Led by Catherine Sovereign, High Desert Dental Hygienists Association is dedicated to promoting evidence-based preventative dentistry, offering local continuing education, and advancing the scope of dental hygiene practice — so residents across the High Desert region receive safe, modern, and compassionate oral healthcare.
High Desert Dental Hygienists Association is a professional membership organization serving registered dental hygienists (RDHs), hygiene educators, and students across Bernalillo, Cibola, Valencia, and Torrance counties. A component society of the New Mexico Dental Hygienists' Association (NMDHA) and the American Dental Hygienists' Association (ADHA), we form an essential network for clinical excellence and professional advocacy in Central New Mexico.
We host quarterly clinical seminars, technical workshops, and evening lectures covering advanced periodontics, local anesthesia protocols, infection control, ergonomics, and modern clinical technologies.
In alignment with state and national dental hygiene bodies, we monitor legislative developments in New Mexico, advocating for expanded access to preventative care and direct public health supervision.
We mentor students and recent graduates through regional dental hygiene programs, and our members volunteer at health fairs, community centers, and schools delivering free oral health assessments and preventative care.
